A Programme for Alternative Provisions
What is ShapeShifters?
ShapeShifters is a storytelling programme supporting young people in alternative education provisions to build confidence, develop oracy skills, and connect with cultural heritage. Each session begins with an engaging performance of stories chosen specifically for this group, focusing on themes of transformation and initiation. Through exploring mythology and folklore, students reflect on their own journeys and create their own stories of transformation which they share in a final showcase performance.
Programme Structure
ShapeShifters is a 10-12 week storytelling programme delivered in alternative provisions such as pupil referral units.
This programme is:
Delivered by an experienced storyteller-facilitator
Suitable for small groups
Adaptable for students aged 9 -16 (KS2, KS3 and KS4)
“The art of storytelling done by Jordan open the imagination of the young people and help them gain new perspective on social interactions.
It allowed young people to learn in a creative space and gave them a sense of a traditional way of learning as our for fathers did way back when. Similar to how teachers do now with social stories in early years learning.”
